Reason # 1: The Views
Brown’s Canyon is one of the most beautiful and scenic stretches of whitewater in the United States. The cliffs, granite and patches of igneous rock are cut through by this beautifully indescribable river. The quiet riffles of water contrasted with the roar of whitewater on the second half of the trip highlight the beauty in the dichotomy of water. Not to mention the views of some of Colorado’s most famous 14,000 ft peaks off in the distance.
Reason #2: Paddle, Rest, Repeat
Browns Canyon is what is called a pool drop rapid system. This system is largely why Brown’s Canyon is the most commercially rafted stretch of whitewater in the United States. This system gives the paddler the exhilaration of whitewater for a time, but also allows time to rest. Instead of 10 straight miles of one continuous rapid, there are areas of calm in between sections of rapidity. this gives smiles to the first time rafter as well as those who have seen the river time and again.
